Preview for Next Week:
Tell students we will watch Halloween videos next week.
I will make a lot of changes to this lesson plan for next year.
1. Focus on the rhyming lesson and cover fewer books.
2. Won’t read “Scary, scary Halloween,” “Pumkin Heads,” and “Skeleton Hiccups.”
3. Lesson for next year:
Discuss rhyming pairs of words. Then read (in order): “Frank was a monster who wanted to dance” and “One witch.” (Point out the counting pattern of the latter.)
4. Supplement by grade: K: “Spooky wheels on the bus,” 1st: “Ten Little mummies,” (reinforce counting pattern) 2nd: “Rattlebone rock” 3rd: “Dark, dark tale,” expand on predicting using a text and relating it to other books.
