  • Introduce this week’s words: check out and due date.

Lesson:

  • Show the cover of each book.
  • Indicate where they can find the due date label on their books.
  • Read the books and use to questions to determine comprehension.

  • Students will demonstrate that they understand the reason for using due date stickers.

Preview for Next Week:

  • Tell students we will read more books about Halloween next week.

    I think I’m going to retire “The librarian from the Black Lagoon.” Unless kids are familiar with the series, it falls flat as a read aloud. Maybe it’s because we’ve had library classes for 15 years, but kids just aren’t anxious about going to the library and don’t appreciate the humor that’s based on the fear.
